Sunday Support: Overcoming Work Related Stress

So this has really been playing on my mind recently, and I’ve been going through one of those phases where I feel so overwhelmed and I can’t seem to see the light in each day, I’ve just felt like to much is going on at the moment and it’s been getting on top of me.

I know everyone has these days where they just want to sit slob out and forget about everything for a day to recharge, relax and de-stress. But sometimes it’s not just for that one day… sometimes it starts as a bad day, which turns into a bad week and then a bad month and so on.

It’s so easy to lose sight of why you’re working so hard for something, especially if you grind all day everyday working your fingers to the bone for very little in return. I know a lot of people especially in the industry that I work in that have drove themselves to insanity because all they wanted was success, but what they failed to do was look after themselves first.

Everyone wants to be successful in their own career path, whether you work for yourself or for a big company stress shows itself to everyone and we all deal with it in different ways.

For me personally, Ever since I left school 5 years ago I have worked hard every day trying to perfect my skills, trying to push doors open for myself. As a make-up artist, photographer, model, actress, hair stylist, pretty much anyone who works for themselves, you have to work 24/7 there is no ‘I will do that later’ or ‘I can’t be bothered’, those words are never used when work is concerned. If you’re self-employed you have to be the business woman/man, the personal assistant, the accountant, the recruitment agent, the social media executive and then you have to do your actual job. If I had £1 for every time that I heard someone say to me ‘Oh your job is so easy’ I would be a millionaire by now lol... I don’t think a lot of people understand how much work and dedication it takes to be your own boss.
That’s why I thought I would write this post to give you some tips on how to stay positive and keep going whether you work for yourself or for a company.

I’m not going to lie to you, there will be many times when you think to yourself ‘f**k this, I can’t do this anymore’ and you will cry, you will get angry and you will wonder why the hell you started in the first place. This will happen quite a lot…. But …. There will also be days when you get emails or messages from people saying how much you have helped them or inspired them in some way. There will be days when your work is appreciated by the people working with you. The feeling you get for simply being appreciated and acknowledged for all your hard work and dedication is amazing, especially when you admire all of the people around you so much.

It’s the little reminders that keep you going and make you realise why you have worked so hard. I always take the time on days when I’m feeling low to sit and consciously remind myself of why I do what I do and how it makes me happy. I might sit and read through some uplifting old comments or emails that I had received, or maybe sit and have a conversation with my mum she always makes me see the positive in everything and she always praises and supports me in anything I do, it helps a lot to sit and listen to what she has to say, somehow it helps me organise my thoughts and it makes me feel 10 times better. I just think talking to anyone that you’re close to is such a good way of relieving stress. Sometimes when you talk about your worries and doubts out loud to someone you end up realising just how insignificant they are…
I love to read motivational quotes or blog's, seeing other people working towards their dreams definitely inspires me. If you're not a big reader then type into YouTube 'motivational speeches' or something along those lines and I promise you, you will feel so inspired and uplifted it will make your even hungrier for success. Oh... and don’t forget laughter is the best medicine by far, put on your favourite funny movie invite your best friends over and just let yourself laugh so hard until your tummy hurts. It really does the trick!

Personally all I want to do in my life time is help as many people as I can, inspire as many people as I can, be a good woman, find love, look after my family, share good times with amazing friends and make a living doing what I love to do and if I manage to achieve anything else… well that’s just a bonus. That's what makes me happy, and I think it is so important to do something that gives you happiness.

So remember… when you’re having a bad day always make time for yourself, remind yourself how far you have come and how much you have achieved. Never give up on your dreams, they're closer today than they were yesterday!

Until next time my loves

“The minute you choose to do what you really want to do, it’s a different kind of life".

So I recently came across this quote that was posted by one of my favourite Instagramers Amrezy.

It really got me thinking… for so long I’ve wanted to do many things but for some reason or another I always decide against it. Mainly because I was afraid of what other people might think and what they might say. For years I’ve been telling myself ‘Don’t think about it, just do it’ but I don’t think I was really listening to myself.

For some reason when I read this quote something just clicked and I thought to myself, why the hell am I still debating whether to do the things I really want to do? … I started to ask myself a bunch of questions all of which resulted in the same answer ‘what have you got to lose?’
Nothing makes me happier than helping, inspiring and empowering people. Whether it is through the art that I draw, the words that I write or the make-up that I apply, I love to make people happy it is such a rewarding feeling. After all, happiness is priceless and I feel like everyone deserves it; if I can make just one person smile a day then my work is complete.

The point of this post is to remind you that only you can choose what you want in life, you have the power to make changes and do what really makes you happy. And when you do decide, you will feel a great sense of fulfilment, achievement and peace.
I plan to share a lot more with you all in the future, I hope we can learn, grow and empower each other along the way. Stay tuned for more posts coming soon!
